Remembering World Hoop Day 2008
remembering the Gili Islands - one of the most remote places in Indonesia - off the coast of Lombok - I gifted these girls my hoops - just before World Hoop Day 2008 - the same day my sister and I found out about our father's heart attack... the beginning of the 2 month roller coaster until we lost him...the beautiful part was to hear later that the village ended up having hoop contests and that the hoops became a treasured possession for girls and the community.
this is an island that has NO cars, NO police, NO real LAWs other than just village hierarchy of families / completely unique, local tradition...and now... they have HOOPS too...
this is what WORLD HOOP DAY is about - Hoops bring amazing joy to all and sharing them is a beautiful thing!! I can't count the number of hoops I've gifted (across the WORLD!) seriously --
Sharing and Gifting your hoops is truly the best thing you can do...
